DigitalGlobe supports crisis management
DigitalGlobe, the leading American provider of high-resolution satellite imagery, announced on its blog the launch of the Open Data Program, which aims to provide satellite data for selected large-scale natural disasters.
DigitalGlobe will provide, on an open license basis, high-resolution satellite imagery on the Open Data Program platform – a repository of satellite data released for crisis management and emergency services during crisis events.
As part of any activation, the company will provide satellite imagery made prior to and after the disaster as well as vector data illustrating the inventory and damage assessment developed by Tomnod croudsourcing platform.
The first activation of the Open Data Program was the delivery of satellite and vector data for the Hurricane Matthew area in October 2016.
