GECCO – first tests

On 1st July 2015 in the main School of Fire Service there were performed first external functional tests of integrated information environment for crisis management – GECCO (space-derived GEoinformation for Crisis management and Coordination).

Tests main assumption was to simulate usage of system components such as Professional Portal, Public Portal or Mobile Application. Participants were working in groups and their task was to impersonate a subject that is taking part in a rescue action during crisis scenario. Their task was to realize the scenario by using given GECCO component. Scenario was taking into account GECCO’s main functionality which is usage of data that are based on earth observation in information exchange process. Thanks to this kind of form of tests the participants had the chance to familiarize with systems functionalities and the idea of co-operation between its components.

At the end of the tests the participants were asked to fulfil questionnaires which will be used to improve GECCO system.
