Crisis Information Centre at the 19th Science Picnic
On May 9, 2015, another edition of the Scientific Picnic organized by the Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Center was held at the National Stadium in Warsaw. More than 200 exhibitions, experiments and workshops were organized. This year, the theme was Light.
At the Picnic there was also the GeoPlanet tent, which assembled five institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences dealing with the research on the Earth and planets. The staff of the Crisis Information Centre representing the Space Research Centre PAS prepared an attractive program for the youngest participants of the Picnic. Children could play Cosmic Twister, play with puzzle pieces showing satellite images of natural disasters and learn more about remotely sensed observations of the Earth and how satellite imagery in used in crisis management.
