DRIVER+ received Security Innovation Award 2025
The European Commission launched the 2025 Security Innovation Award to recognize innovative solutions stemming from security research funded under the EU Research Framework Programme. The aim is to promote solutions that have achieved significant impact when it comes to market uptake of research results in the area of civil security a couple of years after the actual project is over.
The DRIVER+ toolkit and in particular the Trial Guidance Methodology received the award for the “best open-source innovation”. Trial Guidance Methodology (TGM) provides a systemic approach to the evaluation of new technological solutions through practical tests in simulated environment, with detailed recommendations on how to conduct such tests in order to obtain a reliable and evidence-based evaluation. With TGM, you can assess the potential impact of a change brought by a solution on the socio-technical setup of a crisis management organisation. TGM is subject of European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) Workshop Agreement CWA 17514. Elements of TGM, suitably adapted, are used in dozens of European projects. CIK CBK PAN in DRIVER+ was actively involved in developing the TGM and coordinating several large-scale Trials to improve and validate the methodology.
